Bobby Flay is a television personality, professional chef and restaurant owner with a net worth of approximately $20 million. He owns 10 restaurants in the US and in the Bahamas, and to date he has authored 12 cookbooks. He has appeared on or starred in 13 Food Network channel shows, and he is one of the most revered chefs in the country. He is currently working as executive chef at all his restaurants as well as appearing in the news and tabloid headlines as scandal has taken over his personal life. He is in the process of divorcing his second wife, and rumors are swirling that he cheated on her with more than one woman, including actress January Jones and fellow Food Network star Giada De Laurentiis, who is also recently divorced.
Bobby Flay got his start in the food industry when he was only a teenager. Raised in New York City’s Upper East Side, Flay was only 8 when he asked his parents for an Easy Bake oven so that he could cook his own food. His father was not happy with the choice and decided that more masculine toys would make a better object for his son for Christmas, but he got what he asked for. That moment is one his father probably regrets knowing now what he did not know then. He was only 17 when he dropped out of high school and began his career working at a franchise ice cream shop and a pizza shop.
It wasn’t until he was hired to make salads at a restaurant in which his father was partner that the proprietor of the restaurant noticed that Bobby Flay was exceptionally talented and decided to pay his way through culinary school. He sent him to the French Culinary Institute. He became a sous-chef, handed the head chef position after only a week. However, Flay realized very quickly that he had not enough experience at that point in his career to run a kitchen, and he left his job to take on another job somewhere else. In the coming years, he would become partner in a restaurant, he would become a restaurant owner and he would become a television star.
He’s been able to make his money doing many things, from authoring cookbooks that show off his love of southwestern cooking with a flair, and he’s also starred in many television series. He’s a regular fixture on the Food Network, and he has made a lot of money helping people learn to cook simple meals that are beyond decadent. He is also a judge and host of the hit Food Network series, “The Next Food Network Star,” where he has helped choose some of the biggest stars on the network to date.
His personal life might be in shambles at the moment, and that might mean we see some of his net worth plummet as he is ordered to give his soon-to-be ex-wife of a decade some of his assets. There is no word just yet, but it’s likely to happen before too much longer.
