Lebron James is an American basketball superstar with an estimated net worth of $300 million. Born just two days before the New Year in 1984, the 30-year-old NBA star is one of the most successful and most famous basketball players in American history. He began his professional career with the Cleveland Cavaliers and held the team together for many years, leaving for a few years to try and win a championship ring with the Miami Heat. He returned to the Cavaliers much to the happiness of everyone in Cleveland, and his career only gets hotter by the year.
Lebron James was born to a mother who was only 16 when she gave birth, which so often means that a child is going to grow up without much guidance or anything else, for that matter. However, she did her job and raised him on her own. She might have struggled, but she did what she had to do. When she realized her son showed great potential in the sports world, she moved him into the home of a youth football coach. He encouraged Lebron James to begin playing basketball when the child was only 9. He had no idea what that encouragement would mean for the future star. His star was already shining along with four of his friends as they played for an amateur athletic team in the Cleveland area, promising that they would stick together to play high school ball. The city was shocked when these four young African American boys decided that they all wanted to attend St. Vincent-St. Mary High school, a private Catholic School with a primarily white population.
He led that team to so many victories and so few losses that he was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated when he was not quite yet a junior in high school, and writers everywhere were calling him the best basketball player in the country. He won just about every title ever imaginable in high school, and he was also a star football player. He was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the first overall draft pick in the 2003 NBA draft just out of high school, and his career took off. During his second season on the team, he became the youngest player to ever record his first triple-double, and he set the new single game points record for the team after scoring 56 points against Toronto the same year.
Lebron James brings in an average of $72 million per year. During the first 10 years of his professional career, his basketball salary alone was more than $126 million, and he earned another $326 million during that time from his endorsements. Being one of the most prolific stars in the world, he has endorsements with more companies than you might imagine, from McDonalds to State Farm to Dunkin Donuts to Microsoft and dozens more. He earns millions of dollars every year from those endorsements, and he will only continue to do so as he becomes even more famous in his career, which he does every time he hits the court.
